Summer School Studies in Game Development
Game Programming Intensive Course (3 ECTS)
The objective of the intensice course is that the student masters the use of Unity or Unreal Engine and makes a computer game using either as a tool, as per instructions. The course takes place between 5 and 9 June, 2017. The course starts on Monday, 5 June at 10 am at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences, in Taito 1 building (Kuntokatu 5, 87100 Kajaani). Price: 45 euros.

Tuesday - Thursday: 09:00 - 18:00
Friday: 09:00 - 14:00
Computer classrooms are available from Monday to Thursday until 9 pm.

in local student dormitory in twin bed rooms at price 12 €/ night. Please, note that in the room there are no pillows, covers and bed linens available, so please take your own sleeping bag with you.

Summer School Studies in Game Development
Kajaani University of Applied Sciences offers summer studies in Game Development. You can choose to complete the course "Developing a Commercial Game Application" worth 10 - 15 credits in summer 2017.
The language of the summer school is English.

||Previous knowledge of basic programming or graphics
10 ECTS = 150 euros
15 ECTS = 225 euros

||The course is offered in the open university of applied sciences and can be accredited as part of your studies at your home university. Negotiate any possible studies to be accredited and the student financial aid for summer with your own university in advance.
Developing a Commercial Game Application
During the course, you will work in game development teams for two or three months while simultaneously learning the objectives and methods of developing a commercial game. Within this course, you will create a game demo in production teams aimed at a wider audience and participate in the Assembly game development competition during the same year. You may have the opportunity to publish your own game.
Please note that if you wish to develop your skills in using either Unity 3D or Unreal Engine 4, a week-long intensive course for this purpose is available summer 2017.
Please note! Both the summer course and the intensive course are free of charge for exchange students coming from Kajaani University of Applied Sciences partner universities.
Accommodation in Kajaani
You can find accommodation for the summer on campus. Choose from the following options for furnished rooms:
The Vocational College KAO offers rooms in a dormitory for the price EUR 120 / double room / month and EUR 190 for a single room / month. Prices include cleaning. Further information
(in Finnish only). PLEASE NOTE! This option is not possible for the 15 ECTS course since the rooms are only available until 31 July.
Kajaanin Pietari offers shared student accommodation
on campus for the price EUR 325 / single room / month. In the apartments on campus, there are 5 students sharing one apartment, each of them having their own room with fridge and sharing kitchen and bathrooms. Apply for the accommodation online
Students coming for exchange from our partner universities
are nominated by their home universities. The students should follow the normal application procedure for exchange students
. Incoming exchange students do not have pay for the summer school.
